A Japanese Martial Art that can be roughly translated as meaning the "Gentle Art". Of the many variations of Jiu Jitsu that have been developed to date, it's main principles are centred around manipulating the force and energy of an attacker against them rather than countering it with your own. Developed in the early 20th Century, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the most common and widely practiced derivations of this martial art today and is based on the principle of using leverage and appropriate technique to enable a smaller, weaker fighter to defend against a larger and stronger opponent.
